Top Novels Writer

Harper Lee

Harper Lee, whose full name was Nelle Harper Lee, was born on April 28, 1926, in Monroeville, Alabama, and is best known for her iconic novel To Kill a Mockingbird, published in 1960. The novel, which explores deep themes of racial injustice, morality, and compassion through the eyes of a young girl named Scout Finch, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961 and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

Lee was known for her clear and simple writing style, rich in Southern dialect and emotional depth. She was a private person and rarely gave interviews, living quietly despite her global fame. In 2015, she released a second novel, Go Set a Watchman, which was actually written before To Kill a Mockingbird and presented a more controversial view of Atticus Finch. Harper Lee was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2007 and the National Medal of Arts in 2010. A close childhood friend of author Truman Capote, Lee passed away on February 19, 2016, leaving behind a powerful legacy in American literature.

George Orwell

George Orwell, originally named Eric Arthur Blair, was born on June 25, 1903, in Motihari, British India, and became one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. He is best known for his powerful political novels 1984 and Animal Farm, which explore themes of totalitarianism, propaganda, freedom, and truth. Orwell’s writing style was direct, clear, and brutally honest, shaped by his experiences in colonial service, poverty, and war. 1984 presents a dystopian future ruled by surveillance and censorship, while Animal Farm is an allegory about power and corruption through a farm of talking animals.

Orwell was a committed critic of authoritarian regimes and a champion of democratic socialism. Apart from fiction, he was also a brilliant essayist, writing on politics, language, and society. Despite his fame today, Orwell lived a modest life and died young at the age of 46 from tuberculosis on January 21, 1950, in London. His work remains a warning against oppressive governments and a defense of truth in an age of manipulation.

Jane Austen

Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775, in Hampshire, England, and is considered one of the greatest English novelists of all time. She is best known for her sharp social observations, romantic plots, and witty characters, especially in novels like Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Persuasion. Her stories often focus on the lives, loves, and struggles of women in the British upper-middle class during the early 19th century.

Austen’s writing is famous for its irony, strong female leads, and subtle criticism of social class and gender inequality. Despite publishing anonymously during her lifetime, her novels gained popularity and are now studied worldwide for their depth, humor, and timeless themes. She never married and led a quiet life, writing with great insight about the society around her. Jane Austen died at the young age of 41 on July 18, 1817, but her legacy continues through countless adaptations and devoted readers across generations.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald, born on September 24, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota (USA), was a famous American novelist best known for capturing the spirit and struggles of the Jazz Age — the 1920s era of glamor, wealth, and moral confusion. His most iconic work, The Great Gatsby, explores themes of love, ambition, class, and the illusion of the American Dream through the mysterious life of Jay Gatsby. Fitzgerald’s writing style was poetic, elegant, and emotionally rich, blending romantic beauty with critical social commentary.

Despite his literary brilliance, he faced financial troubles and personal challenges, including alcoholism and a difficult marriage with Zelda Sayre. Other notable works include Tender Is the Night, This Side of Paradise, and The Beautiful and Damned. Although he wasn’t widely recognized during his lifetime, Fitzgerald is now celebrated as one of America’s greatest literary voices. He died young at the age of 44 on December 21, 1940, but his influence on modern literature remains strong.
